The UNC Charlotte Police Department is currently recruiting qualified
applicants for the position of Public Safety Officer (Police Officer I).
The UNC Charlotte Police Department is responsible for the safety of
approximately 23,000 citizens who live, work, and study at UNC Charlotte.
The department consists of approximately 30 sworn law enforcement
personnel. We accomplish our charge with the utilization of bike patrol,
vehicle patrol, and interactive contact through the Community Policing
philosophy. To fulfill this responsibility, we are seeking highly
motivated officers with high standards of personal integrity.
Benefits include access to state law enforcement medical and retirement

degree and outstanding in-service training opportunities. Salaries are
based upon education and experience.
PAY:

NC Basic Law Enforcement Training Certified
(BLET) and no law enforcement experience and no higher education. $31,345
·
BLET Certified or qualifying Out-of-State
Transfer certified officer with 2 years experience and/or 2 year degree.
$33,059
·
BLET Certified or qualifying Out-of-State
Transfer certified officer with 4 years experience and/or 4 year degree. $34,634
·
Trainee (No current certifications). $28,000

The
University of North Carolina at Charlotte Police and Public Safety (PPS)
requires potential officers to have or be able to obtain current certification
from the North Carolina Department of Justice Criminal Justice Standards
Division, and meet the minimum standards for employment. The Criminal Justice
Education and Training Standards Commission regulates the law enforcement
profession except sheriffs, deputies, detention officers and

North Carolina Basic Law Enforcement Training (B.L.E.T.) certifications and
certified officers from other states that can meet North Carolina certification
requirements as Out-of-State Transfers. Officers from other states should

Transfer requirements.
